Updating Pronouns in UC Davis Online Directory and UCPath

Changes are coming to the UC Davis Online Directory in preparation for upcoming updates in UCPath, the University of California’s single payroll, benefits, human resources and academic personnel solution for all employees, including the students who work at UC Davis.

What is changing?

  • After July 15, 2024, UC employees can select their pronouns and choose from more inclusive gender identity and sexual orientation selections in UCPath. The next time employees log in, they will be prompted to update their personal information.
  • Until an individual makes a change in UCPath, the Online Directory will continue to reflect current pronoun information for faculty and staff employees.
  • Once a faculty or staff member makes a pronoun change in UCPath, this information will then be available in other systems outside UCPath, including the Online Directory. Note: While changes in UCPath are immediate, downstream systems may take longer to update.

What does this mean for me?

Students

Current UC Davis students may update their pronouns through the UC Davis Online Directory’s “Update my directory listing” webpage. Some information from the online directory, including pronouns, is publicly available, unless you choose to not display your information

Student employees: Your information in UCPath does not feed directly to the UC Davis Online Directory. If you would like the Online Directory to reflect your pronouns you will need to update this information separately

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff members who are not student employees may update their pronouns in UCPath. This information will then be available in the Online Directory. Click here to learn more about how to update your personal profile in UC Path.

UC Davis Health Contract Employees: Contract health employees who wish to change their pronouns can contact the Technology Outreach Center by submitting a “Get Help” request

If you are not in the Online Directory or UCPath and would like to make an update to your UC Davis identity record, please reach out to ithelp@ucdavis.edu

Enabling pronoun updates across UCPath and other UC Davis IT systems marks another major milestone for the UC Davis Gender Recognition and Lived Name (GRLN) Initiative in implementing the UC-wide policy that affirms accurate identities of more members of the university community.
